Adenine:  As you can see, this molecule consists of  15 atoms that are precisely lined up in an orderly manner. Unless the order of their arrangement is very exact, this molecule will not function. It is a vital part of DNA and RNA as well as ATP, all of which are found in all living organisms and each plays a vital part of life processes. If we follow the absurd "logic" of Henry and John Morris, that chance that such a molecule could form by chance is one out of 15! (15 factorial) or one out of 1,307,674,368,000. To obtain this molecule by pure chance, and one random molecule was formed every second, it would take 1,307,674,368,000 seconds for one to possibly form.

So in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 seconds that occurred over the last 30 billion years, that means, by calculations used by Morris, that  only 764,716 of these molecules could form in 30 billion years!!! That sounds like quite a few, but it wouldn't be enough to fill a single drop! What is strange is that Juan Oro in 1961 was able to get a million times that many molecules in a single week!!

How can that possibly happen if such an event is so improbable?? To understand this, it is important to realize just how small atoms are. Your hand, for example, is composed of more atoms than all the grains of sand on all of the world's beaches!!! If an orange is enlarged to the size of the earth, atoms would be the size of cherries!!! Just how many cherries can you fit in an earth size sphere??? By calculating the volume of the earth, it turns out that the number of cherries that can fit into the earth is 545,512,983,700,000,000,000,000,000 or about 5.45 times 10 raised to the 26th power! More to the point, just think of how many atoms there are on all of the world's intertidal pools where life is thought to originate. To calculate this, simply multiply the number of organges that can fit on the earth's surface times 5.45 time 10 raised to the 26th power. How many times per second could random chances occur on the earths surface forming molecules of adenine? (or other organic compounds of DNA?)

So even if the formation of a molecule, such as adenine, was strictly by random chance (and it is not), with the earth surface being so huge there would be a quadrillion quadrillion molecules forming every second !!! The reason that Oro was able to obtain so many molecules of adenine in one week, was because the formation of these types of organic molecules is not strictly by chance. There are powerful tendencies for certain types of molecular combinations to occur naturally because of the very nature of certain types of atoms to combine in specific patterns. In other words, atoms have a tendency to form in specific patterns, NOT in just any haphazard random combination.

Now to procede along this line of thought, it is has been found that there are strong tendencies for specific combinations of organic molecules to form into macromolecules such as proteins and DNA. Furthermore, some large macromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids have a tendency to form self reproducing molecules, and phospholipids naturally tend to form bilipid layers and that is the basis for the formation of simple cells. If Oro can produce millions of molecules of adenine in only ONE WEEK, what could he accomplish if he had a thousand years to carry out an experiment?? ...or a million years??

It is clear that the origin of life is NOT improbable, it is inevitable, and the origin occurred very quickly!!
